Winright Johnson

Winright Johnson, 82, departed this life on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Viewing will be held Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023, at Griffin Mortuary at 2 p.m. Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 p.m. Winright Johnson was born on August 21, 1940, in Crockett, TX to Joe and Ellen Johnson. At the age of 82, he passed away after a long illness in Lubbock, TX on July 26th, 2023. He was the last of the ten children born to Joe and Ellen Johnson. 

Known affectionately as “Win”, “Shade”, or “Fat”, he loved fishing and his Dallas Cowboys! His favorite pastime was watching sports o television and in earlier years he could be seen riding his bicycle around the streets of Hobbs, New Mexico.

He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and four sisters.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his son, Dewayne Johnson of Stockton, California; his daughter, Alisa Lockett Washington of Modesto, California; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and friends.
