October 29, 1959 — November 29, 2023

Vernon Charles Abram, 64 of Lamesa, departed this life on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. John Baptist Church, Lamesa. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Vernon Charles Abram was born on October 29, 1959, in Lamesa, Dawson County, Texas, to Pink James “PJ” Abram and Geneva Hawkins. He attended the Lamesa schools where he was very active in athletics. He graduated from Lamesa High School in 1978. Vernon worked for many years in the oil field and as a mechanic on the side for the family and the public. However, his passion was driving trucks, which was what he did for many years until his health prohibited him from working. Vernon loved and treasured his family and friends; and he never met a stranger. He thoroughly enjoyed going fishing, cookouts, drag racing, whether it was at the quarter marker south of town or on the tracks in Hobbs, and listening to loud good old rock ‘n’ roll. Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jerri Faye Beck Abram, two daughters Amanda Abram and Auranda Abram, grandson Trevor Abram, brother Clarence “CeDee” Hawkins, and sister Stephanie Jimerson. He leaves to cherish his memory; sons Carl Jackson (Jeannie) of Monahans, Texas and Aaron Abram (Gabrielle) of Lamesa, Texas, daughters Dewanaha Colton (Todd) of Abilene, Texas, Amber Abram of Birmingham, Alabama, Andrea Abram (Anastacio Castillo), Adrianne Abram, Celeste Abram, and Madison Yates all of Lamesa, Texas, brother Charles Abram of Midland, Texas, sisters Latundra Hawkins of Lubbock, Texas, Shontundra Adams (John Parks) of Lamesa, Texas, and Laquita Jimerson (Kevin Gibbs) of Mesquite, Texas, aunt Kathleen Parson of Lamesa, Texas, nineteen grandsons, eleven granddaughters, seven great-grandson, six great-granddaughters, a host of other relatives and friends.
