Tachandra Jenkins 49, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 1 pm at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. There are some people whose presence becomes woven into the fabric of our lives so completely that it is difficult to imagine a world without them. Tachandra Jenkins was one of those rare souls. Her life was not measured merely by years lived, accomplishments earned, or places traveled, but by the countless hearts touched through love, kindness, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
Born on November 8, 1976 in Lubbock, Texas Tachandra entered the world with a spirit that would eventually become a source of comfort, joy, and strength to everyone fortunate enough to know her. From an early age, she displayed the qualities that would define their life: curiosity, determination, compassion, and a deep appreciation for the simple blessings of each day.
As a child, she cherished time spent with family and formed bonds that would remain central throughout her life. Those early experiences shaped a person who understood the value of loyalty, hard work, and unconditional love. Family stories often recalled her infectious laughter, adventurous spirit, and ability to bring people together even during difficult times.
If there was one role Tachandra treasured above all others, it was being a devoted family member. Family was the center of her world, and she found immense joy in creating memories that would last generations. As a wife, mother, grandparent and a sibling, she demonstrated extraordinary love and commitment. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where everyone knew they belonged. Family gatherings were filled with laughter, storytelling, and traditions that reflected the love she poured into every relationship. Her children and grandchildren knew her not only as a parent or grandparent but as a trusted confidant, teacher, and friend. She celebrated milestones with genuine enthusiasm and provided comfort during life's disappointments. Through example, she taught lessons about integrity, perseverance, compassion, and gratitude.
Friends often described Tachndra as someone who could be counted on without hesitation. She possessed a rare ability to listen without judgment and offer wisdom without criticism. Her friendships were deep, lasting, and genuine. Many who met her as an acquaintance quickly became lifelong friends because of the sincerity and kindness that radiated from her. One of Tachanda's greatest gifts was making people feel valued. Whether speaking with a lifelong friend or a stranger she had just met, she treated every person with dignity and respect. Her generosity extended beyond material things; She gave her time, attention, encouragement, and love freely
Throughout life, she embraced every season with grace and resilience. She believed that life was meant to be lived fully and that every person deserved kindness and respect. Whether offering a helping hand to a neighbor, encouraging a friend through hardship, or celebrating the successes of loved ones, she consistently placed others before herself.
Throughout her professional and personal life, Tachandra approached every responsibility with dedication and integrity. She believed in doing things the right way, During celebrations, Tachandra found happiness in life's simple pleasures. Whether enjoying time outdoors, traveling with family, sharing meals with loved ones, or simply sitting and talking with family, she understood that life's richest moments are often the simplest ones.
Those left to cherish her memory include husband of 17 years Patrick Jenkins, her children Shovantae Johnson, Michajah Martin, Aliyah Patterson, Aleijah Jenkins, Aniyah Jenkins, her sibling Charles Patterson, Wilma Smart, Brenda Patterson, Elmer Patterson, Aretha & Mark Murchison, Bridgett & Melvin Lofton, Izel Patterson, Lanette Patterson, Lester Patterson, Diana Dobbins, Eva Wilson, Billy Glen Wilson, Dion Jenkins brother-in-law, mother-in-Law Irene Jenkins and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother Lucille Patterson, her father Billy Wilson, and her brother Jamil Wilson. While words can never fully capture the depth of a person's life, those who knew Tachandra was understands that her greatest achievement was not found in titles, awards, or accomplishments. It was found in the love she shared for her family and friend and the lives she changed.
