The hardest goodbyes are the ones we don’t see coming, the ones we could never imagine happening. However, if you were fortunate enough to be loved by our Stacey, her love continues inside of us. She was always telling you how much you meant to her; you never had to question it. Stacey Lynn Williams was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was welcomed into God’s loving arms on March 13th, 2024, at age 58.

Stacey was born to Joe Edward Sr. and Bettie Jewel Smith on May 12, 1965. She was the third of 7 children. Stacey’s sons, Jermaine and Jabaar Smith whom she loved with every ounce of her heart, are left to carry their mother’s legacy.

Stacey attended Ella Iles Elementary School, Alderson Junior High School, and Estacado High School where she built many life-long friendships. She never met a stranger. She had so many talents starting at a very young age, but the one she leaned into the most was cooking. She poured so much love and passion into the food she prepared, and always made more than enough for everyone to end up with a full belly and a smile on their face.

Stacey was very quiet as a young girl, but as she grew older, she found her voice. She was just as sweet as could be, but she was blunt and “Always kept it 100” as they say. If you ever had the pleasure of spending time with her, you probably learned that she also enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and watching special shows on TV. She would quickly let you know not to call her while The 700 Club or The Young and The Restless (her “stories” as she called them) was on. Stacey’s faith in God was very strong, and she never hesitated to let others know about the power of God. Her loving personality and kind spirit are two of the most memorable things that we will forever cherish. We will miss her dearly.

Stacey is preceded in death by her husband Anthony Taylor, her father Joe E. Smith, Sr., her mother Bettie Jewel Smith, and her nephew Tyrell S. Smith.

Stacey leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons Jermaine Smith and Jabaar Smith, her sisters Rhonda Thompson, Shannon Laster (Johnny), and Hope Smith-Lawson (De’Shaun), her brothers Dion Smith, Trent Smith, and Joe E. Smith, Jr., Stacey loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren beyond measure. Spending time with them was filled with so much joy, and she leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
