Sofia Consuelo Salas

Sofia Consuelo Salas entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Visitations will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. Celebration of Life Service will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery at 1 p.m. under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. 

Sofia was born on September 30, 1948, in Clayton, New Mexico to Fernando and Juanita Martinez.

She was married to Richard Salas on December 21, 1975, in Raton NM, she had five children Frankie, Lino, George, Navor and Salia. She was blessed with twelve grandchildren Jonathan, Joshua, Jesse, Isaiah, Mariah, Gabby, and Bella, Jordan, Alex, Gabriela, Lizette, and Manuel 3rd. She loved all of her grandchildren and was so proud of them.

She had eight sisters Rose, Vivian, Virginia, Patsy, Kay, Faye, Carolina and Angie; and three brothers Leo, Max and Joe.

Few things for sure Sofia loved her family and loved God and really enjoyed going to church. She loved listening to praise and worship music and singing along.

She was blessed to care for her siblings at a very early age. She loved to cook and became an excellent cook. She also had an amazing smile, she loved big.

Sofia was preceded in death by her parents Fernando and Juanita; her husband Richard Salas; two sons Frankie Martinez and Navor Salas; three brothers Leo, Max and Joe Martinez; sisters Patricia Harrison, Rosa Ornelas, Faye, Carolina, Kay Martinez and Vivian Hall; grandson Jesse Salas. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Salia Morales and husband Junior Resendez; her sons Lino Salas and George Salas; her sisters Virginia Martinez, and Angie Arriaga and husband Marcos; grandchildren Jonathan Salas, Joshua Salas, Isaiah Salas, Jordan Villalobos, Manuel Morales 3rd, Mariah Salas, Gabby Salas, Alex Arriaga, Gabriela Morales, Lizette Morales and Bella Salas. Many nephews and nieces that she loved very much and lots of other friends and family. 

Sofia will be missed by all who knew her.
