Roy Perkins, "Roy Boi" 51, passed away on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. Celebration of life Service will be held Saturday, July 26th, 2025 at 1 pm at Church of the Nations. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Friday, July 25th, 2025, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Roy, affectionately called Roy Boi by his immediate family, was known by many variations of Roy. It was dependent on the relationship one had with him.
He was a little bird or Pookie to his grandmother, Ruckus to his gaming crew, and depending on who won the argument between him and his niece, he was "The Boss"or maybe She's "The Boss". That argument is an open ended one.
But his most important monikar is the one he shared with those most important to him, his "Us against the world" Crew RoyChrisandTweety!
And yes, it's one word, one spelling. When Roy stepped out, Roy stepped out GQ Cover ready. Such the fashionista.
Roy was two sides of one coin. On the one side, he was hard working and determined. On the flip side he was such a brilliant mind!
He was analytical and practical, funny and shy, and by his own admission, he could be a bit anal.
Forever a kid at heart, no matter how old he got, he refused to be out danced by a young cousin.
Roy was handsome and he knew it, he also had wisdom and common sense in spades. Roy's deepest desire was for family, and he had the deepest love for his family. He had a sense of humor and loved a good gut busting laugh and a well executed family prank.
Speaking of Spades, he was a heck of a partner on the Spades table and he and Uncle E were partners in crime on the domino table (especially if they caught you slipping) (speaking from experience).
Roy was a man of Faith and walked his own path with God.
He was self aware and selfless. Caring, loving, and yes he was a troubled soul. But he was a soul always striving for greater.
Our prayer is that you've found the peace in death that you found so elusive in life.
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.
Revelation 21:4
Roy is preceded in death by his mother Vivian E. Satchel, his paternal and maternal grandmothers and grandfather, and his great grandmothers.
Roy leaves to mourn him, his father Roy Perkins Jr., brothers Christopher L. Perkins and Qualon Weaver, his brother in law Jon Shaw, his sister Tayika S. Shaw, 3 nieces Mia, Cameron, and Camille, 2 nephews CJ Perkins and Logan Shaw. A host of Aunties, Uncles and Cousins, and a handful of lifelong friends that were more family than friends as well a village of friends, coworkers and supporters who loved him.
