Rodney Glenn Bryant, Sr., 73, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2026. Visitations will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 11 am to 3 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
Rodney Bryant Sr. was born on January 10, 1952, in Lubbock, Texas. He lived a life grounded in hard work, family, and the simple joys that brought people together.
Rodney attended Dunbar High School in Lubbock, Texas, and continued his education at Eastern New Mexico University. He went on to build a dedicated career working for the Santa Fe Railroad, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment.
Beyond his career, Rodney was a man of many passions. He loved coaching baseball and playing softball, sharing his knowledge, leadership, and love of the game with others. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, and watching sports, always finding joy in friendly competition and relaxation. Rodney also had a deep love for cooking and barbecuing, often bringing family and friends together through good food and meaningful moments.
Rodney Bryant Sr. will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to work and community, and the many memories he created through laughter, mentorship, and shared meals. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in the lives he touched.
Rodney is preceded in death by his mother Faye Dell Bryant, his father Lorenzo Bryant, Sr., his daughter Erika Applon, his brothers Lorenzo Bryant, Jr. and Anthony Bryant.
Rodney leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Yolanda T. Bryant, his daughters Nicole Whitfield, Melinda Trevino, and Sylvia Trevino, his sons Rodney Bryant, Jr. and Derek Villalpando, his 20 grandchildren, his 13 great grandchildren, his brothers, Harry Bryant, Kevin Bryant, and Ralph Bryant, and a host of other relatives and friends.
