Richard Kevin Hearn was born October 2,1963 to Ruby Jewel Hearn and Frank Carter. He was a devoted husband, caring father, beloved brother, man of God and of stellar character.
Richard received his education from Plainview Independent school district graduating from Plainview High school, class of 1982. He later went on to attend West Texas State University.
Born in Plainview, Tx, Richard began his career working for Hollins home furnishing, the Lubbock State school, Dismas charities and devoted 25 years to the State of Texas juvenile detention department as a parole officer where he later retired. His dedication to hard work, persistence, and integrity is what led him to a successful career, leaving behind a legacy of distinction. During his time with the state of Texas his passion for traveling far and wide grew as he had the opportunities to drive all over the state for work and visiting family. Driving and traveling brought him much joy, from doing his work to leisure time with family and friends he truly was a road warrior.
After retirement, he continued to work for Sunrise Canyon Hospital and Amazon. In addition to his professional career, Richard was a devoted family man. In June 1989, he married and became one with the love of his life, Demetreia. In union, they built their family in Lubbock, Texas. Kevin’s unwavering love and support of his wife, children, grandchildren and siblings were evident in every aspect of his life. He was a man that loved the spirit of good conversation and spending quality time with family and friends. You knew that if his number came across the phone, you’d better have a clear schedule because you were in for a good talking.
In his leisure time, Kevin found joy in spending time with his wife Demetreia, driving to visit his children, Kellen and Chelsea, grandchildren.. He took pride in maintaining his yard and home, often cutting his grass 2-3 times a week to be sure nothing was left unkept. He often received praise for how manicured his yard and home always was.
Being an awesome athlete himself, he took delight in friendly competition, watching sports games, playing dominoes and watching his son coach from the sidelines and his daughter compete in track and field. He also became a lover of pets, often adopting and caring for animals that his wife and or sister Sharon would bring home. Though he may not have always given permission for a new pet he loved them whole-heartedly and took great care of them.
As a man of God, Kevin grew up in church and dedicated his life to the Lord. His grandfather, Sam Hearn being a pastor, assisted in laying the foundation of his faith. He established his relationship with the Lord as a member of Happy Union Baptist church. As his dedication to the Lord grew, he became one of the founding members of Full Armor Ministries along with his family. He served his church in assisting in a multitude of ways as a dedicated servant of the Lord.
