Reverend Margaret Moss peacefully transitioned home to be with the Lord in the early hours of August 3, 2026, while sleeping. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1 pm at Community Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Viewing will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 4pm to 6pm at Griffin Mortuary. 

If you knew Mrs. Moss, you knew that she knew the Lord—and if you didn’t know Him, she wanted to make sure you did as well. With a singing voice as sweet and gentle as her spirit, Mrs. Moss shared the good news of Jesus Christ everywhere she went. Her life was a beautiful testimony of faith, love, service, and evangelism. A true legend on the keys, Mrs. Moss had a God-given gift for music. She not only played the piano with a grace that seemed almost angelic, but she also faithfully shared her gift by teaching others to play. Some of those she taught are here in this very room today, carrying on a musical legacy that she so lovingly poured into them. We can only imagine the joy of knowing that those blessed hands are now lifted in heaven, and that she is using her gifts for God's glory. We can say with certainty that Mrs. Moss is now serving as a minister of music on the other side and now ***INSERTS CANTON SPIRITUALS SINGERS*** "Singing in the Heavenly Choir," which was one of her favorite songs.

Mrs. Moss was blessed with more than musical hands. That same gift extended into so many areas of her life. If you were fortunate enough to taste her cooking, you already know she was unmatched. Her cornbread dressing, chicken and dumplings, red beans and cornbread, and potato salad were just a few of the dishes that made her kitchen special. And nobody was touching her pound cakes, pecan pies, or sweet potato pies! She could even make a stack of pancakes so big it covered the entire plate. Her hands were always busy creating something for the people she loved. Mrs. Moss was also skilled with a sewing machine and made clothes for her children as they were growing up. And she may or may not have had to let out a couple of items for her ever growing grandson, whose name we will graciously leave out today. But perhaps one of Mrs. Moss’s greatest gifts was simply the kindness she showed to others. She was one of the sweetest and most genuine people you could ever meet on this side of heaven. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, faith, and love to so many, and her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.

While our hearts ache because she is no longer with us, we find comfort in knowing that Mrs. Moss has received her heavenly reward. She is now resting in the mansion prepared for her, free from pain, suffering, and memory loss. We rejoice knowing that she is in the presence of the Lord she loved and served so faithfully.

Mrs. Moss is preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth Williams and John Carrol, her sister Wanda Agedo, and children James Moss Jr. and Marilyn Moss.

She leaves behind to continue her legacy, her daughters Mischelle Bryant and Madelyn Moss, grandchildren Chassidy Hudson, Marterio "Marty" Moss, Marche't Moss, Dimmeitria Hudson, Michaela Collins, Jamorra Moss, and Meshaelon Bryant. Mrs. Moss also leaves behind brothers Curly Williams and James Hooper, sisters Joyce Luke and Debbie Hubbard, and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, one special great great-grandson, and other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
