Charles Edward Wilson, 76, departed this earthly life on Monday, May 19, 2025. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 31st, 2025 at 11 am at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Charles Edward Wilson was born to the late Rev. Tommie and Ola Wilson on June 10, 1948 in Waco, TX. He received Christ at an early age under the leadership of his father, Rev. Tommie Lee Wilson. For the last twenty seven years, he has been a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. He was an active member of the ministry, deacon board and choir until his health prevented him from further participation.
Charles received his diploma from Booker T. Washington High School in Plainview Texas in 1966. He then was drafted into the Air Force in June 1966, shortly after Charles became a Sargent. While in the military he obtained his Engineering degree. Charles was known for his hard work and dedication which led him to a successful career at Levi's Strauss as a head engineer where he would retire from in 1997. After retirement he moved to Lubbock where he started working for himself in Real Estate, he then later became the Operations Manager for the Goodwill company. Charles was an educated, well spoken man who took pride in his name and who he was. He was particularly passionate about wildlife and nature, he dedicated much of his time sitting outside tending to his yard and relaxing.
Charles was a beloved husband, brother, father and friend who cherished the time spent with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Doris of 28 years, daughters, Eva Wilson, Katrina Wilson, Charlotte Johnson, Felisha Thomas, Charlena Wilson (Joey), Brittany Baker, sons, Wayne Wilson ( Judy), Kelvin WIlson (Felicia), Dwight Johnson, Derrick Johnson, Delvin Wilson (Jessica), Cedrick Wilson (Erica) Leonard Baker, four sisters Billie Williams, Georgia Wall (Jerry) Delorse Roberts ( Johnny) Tommie Penns, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Charles's warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved, and his presence will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
