Raymond Gene Whitfield, 69, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 3 pm at Shiloh Baptist Church, Ralls, TX. Interment will follow at Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Raymond Gene Whitfield was born on May 7, 1956, in Ralls, Texas, to James Willie Whitfield Jr. and Thelma Williams Whitfield. He was raised and educated in Ralls, Texas, graduating from Ralls High School in 1974, and later attended South Plains College.
Raymond spent much of his life working in the cotton gin industry, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. After moving to Lorenzo, Texas, in 1989, he worked at the Co-op Cotton Gin in Ralls as well as several others. He had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar, but he was equally known for his humor. He was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan, rather they won or lost. Raymond had a natural ability to make people laugh and brought joy to those around him with his quick wit and warm personality. He was also a faithful attendee of Hope Deliverance Temple under the leadership of Reverend Charles Tanner.
In 1999, Raymond founded Raymond Trucking Company, taking great pride in building and operating his own business. He later relocated to Stinton, Texas, where he met his special friend, Gracie Guerra. He later worked at Hartzendorf Gin, where he remained for 18 years and was very fond of his boss Marc Hartzendorf.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, James Willie Whitfield Jr. and Thelma Williams Whitfield; his son, Frederick Menefee; his sister, Janis Whitfield; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Whitfield.
He is survived by his late wife Jackie Lee Whitfield, his children, Stassney Coleman, James Christopher Coleman, and Felisha Wall; his grandchildren, Jayden D’Shawn Coleman, Isaiah Shawn Garza, Kevon Coleman, Keana Coleman, and Keson Coleman; his sister, Toni Adkison; his brother, Ralph Whitfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
