Patricia Ann Glenn, 77, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2024. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11am at Community Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, from 4pm to 6pm at Griffin Mortuary. On August 20, 1947, God saw fit to shine a bright light upon the earth. She would become Patricia Ann “Pat” Jenkins. She was the 5th child born to Howard and Ella Bernice Jenkins in Stanton, Texas. As the spoiled baby of the family, she enjoyed as well as offered a great deal of joy and laughter to everyone she met.
Throughout her childhood, she was among the first black children integrated and able to graduate from Stanton High School, after high school, she moved to Lubbock to attend Draughon’s Business College. Upon graduation, Pat began working at Texas Agricultural Extension Service. It was while working there that she was set up on a blind date with LaChars Glenn, who would become her husband on April 1, 1972. During their 52 years of marriage, she birthed two beautiful daughters, LaTrice and LaToya.
Pat’s career encompassed a wide variety of work, most notably her work at UPS and Wells Fargo.
Pat was a person gifted to give. She began her Christian service as a child at St. James Baptist Church. After moving to Lubbock, she served at New Jerusalem Baptist Church where she served as the pianist until God moved her to Community Baptist Church in the 1980’s. Pat was a devoted member of the choir until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Pat remained an online member until she was called Home to be with our Lord and Savior.
Pat had a life that was full of people who loved her, and that she loved in return. Although she only birthed two daughters, she had many others who embraced as if they were her own, and who offered her the opportunity to also experience grandmother hood. Pat did everything that she could to make everything that she could make everyone around her feel accepted and loved, and that is how she will be remembered.
She will be missed immensely.
Pat is preceded in death by her father Howard Jenkins, her mother Ella B. Jenkins, her daughter LaToya Glenn, her brother Billy R. Jenkins, and her niece Melva M. Rogers.
Pat leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband LaChars Glenn, her daughter LaTrice Glenn, her sister Louise Hollie, her brothers Howard Jenkins (Gloria) and James Jenkins (Lois), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
