Ocie Watkins, 94, passed away July 27, 2026. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1 pm at Friendship Holy Baptist Church #1. Interment will follow at West Side Cemetery Lorenzo, TX under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. She was born November 26,1931 to the union of Curtis Watkins and Jimmie Zelner Mann-Lewis. She was a devout Christian and loved the Lord thy God with all her heart. She was a proud member of Friendship Holy Baptist Church #1 for well over 70 years. She devoted her life to the Lord, her family and her work cleaning homes. To Sister Ocie, cleaning was more than a job, it was her life's work. She took great pride in caring for the homes of others, serving many families with dedication, integrity, and compassion. Among those she faithfully worked for were the Hillborn and Wein families, as well as many others throughout the years.
Sister Ocie and her sister Sister Jean lived in "the country" and raised many generations of children. Their home was a safe space for all. Always a meal and a prayer available.
She is preceded in death by her parents Curtis Watkins and Jimmie Zelner Mann-Lewis, her sisters Josie C. Daniels, Wilma Jean Wilborn, and Jessie Matthews, her brothers Edward Watkins and Prennis Lewis
She leaves her sons in love Labrandon (Bo) Hightower, Javon (Buzzy) Hightower, Eric Hightower, Roderick (Rod) Bell, Dorkish (Kish) Young, Aubrey Young, Micheal Hightower Johnson, Keishawn Broussard, and Willie (Tirrell) Hightower. Her daughters in love Latrell (Trell) Broussard-Wilson, Octavya (Sissy) Hightower, Shetavya (Tiny) Hightower, Ashley Hightower, Destiny Hightower, ZaQuisha (Quisha) Bell, and Kiyanna Hightower. Her nieces Glorene Watkins, Nina Mooring, Misty Watkins, Charlotte Payne, Carroll Boudier. Her nephews Bobby Charles Watkins, Charles Daniels II, Prennis (Man) Lewis Jr, Joshua Watkins, Jeremy Watkins and a host of family and friends who will miss her dearly.
