Nina R. Anderson

Nina R. Anderson, 76, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024. Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, February 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. at True Worshippers Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.

Nina was born to the parents of Carrie L. Ware and Elzow Ware, Sr. May 4, 1947 in Bryan, TX. She was the second oldest out of nine siblings. During the early years of life in Bryan, TX she met and married the love of her life, Billy A. Westbook, Sr., with whom four children were born into that union.

Nina went to work to help provide for her family. She loved doing hair, she had the chance to meet and dance with Tina Turner, and she later received her CDL license and traveled the world.

Nina was a good mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, auntie, sister, and friend to everyone she came in contact with.

She loved the Dallas Cowboys, had a hobby to play bingo and also loved to be around family and friends. During Mrs. Nina’s free time she went to church and always attended her grandchildren’s sports events showing lots of love and support.

She is preceded in death by her mother Carrie L. Parnell-Ware, father Elzow Ware, Sr., her loving brothers Elzow Ware, Jr. and Martin Luther Ware, her sister Benita Ware-Byrd, her first grandson Fredric J. Westbrook, her late husband Carl Anderson., and her children’s father Billy A. Westbrooks, Sr.

She leaves a legacy of two children Billy A. Westbrook, Jr. and Yvette Westbrook, three lovely grandchildren Marqunita Westbrook, Lacrisha Westbrook, and Quran Johnson, five brothers Eddie Ware, Harold Ware, Broderick Ware, Kenneth Ware, and Paul Ware, nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
