Mary Louise Gary

Mary Louise Gary, 81, departed her loved ones on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 2:05 p.m. Viewing will be held Monday, April 24, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Griffin Mortuary Chapel and Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1 p.m. Private Disposition will follow under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Mary Louise Gary was born in Calvert, Texas to Myrtle Lee Porter and Benjamin Porter. She retired from over 40 years of nursing. She enjoyed taking care of her grandkids, great-grand and great-great-grandkids. She loved her daughter and all her offspring. She had her own special relationship with each one of them. She loved reading, working on her puzzle books and sitting enjoying family. She was a hardworking God-fearing woman. “Don’t cry for me because I am at peace with the Lord.” She is preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Porter and Myrtle (Rufus) Walker; her daughter, Jeanetta Lucille Brandon; two sisters, Brenda Walker and Linda Freeman; three brothers, Benny James Porter, David Lawrence Walker, Sr., and Rufus Arthur Walker, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Janis Earline Brandon; her sister, Barbara Jewel Walker; her brother, Buford Allen Walker; seven grandchildren, Tonya Meddleton, Vinson Jones, Edward Brandon, Landrea Hastings (Jimmy), Porsha Jones, Armetha Smith and Shameca Clark; 20 great-grandchildren, 27 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
