Marvin Taylor, 81, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025 from 2pm to 4pm at Griffin Mortuary. Private Disposition will follow under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Marvin Taylor, son of the late Edward and Inez Sanders-Taylor. Marvin was born in Bryan, Texas on August 5, 1944, and moved to Lubbock, Texas, later on in his life. 

Marvin started his career at the “oil mill” where many Lubbockites were employed. Later he became a self-employed carpenter and a very good one. His work was known from Lubbock all the way down to Odessa, Texas. 

Marvin loved fishing, dancing and singing. Marvin was a joyful person and was an avid collector of baseball caps. He was known by many in the community by several names; “Starvin’ Marvin”, or “Crip”. 

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bobby, his daughter Carol Taylor, three brothers; J.L. Taylor, Howard Taylor, Wendell Taylor and two sisters; Alice Jordan, Dorthy Jean Mitchell. 

He is survived by his two; Amy (Charlie) Cleveland, Lakeisa Taylor; both of Odessa, Texas. His beloved grandchildren; Marcus Perkins, Releya Hernandez, Todd Taylor, Tyrek Perkins, Randall Moore, Kay’Lynn Taylor, AlFrenezia Walker, Daquan, Patterson, and his great-grandchildren; Aniah Perkins, Yuri Perkins, Nasir Perkins, Marcus Perkins III. Four sisters; Fredi (late George Coleman) Dime Box, Texas, Bobbie (Calvin) Baldwin of College Station, Texas, twin sister Margaret (Glen) Stevenson, Beverly (late Jack) Bozeman of Lubbock, Texas. Six brothers; Melvin (Karen) Taylor of Dallas, Texas, Rev Willis (Willie) Taylor of Sulphur Springs, Texas, John (Rochelle) Taylor, James (Carmen) Taylor of Lubbock, Texas. sister-in-law, Law Ruedella Taylor of Slaton, Texas brother-in-law, Leon Mitchell. Marvin is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Marvin was again, well known and loved by many
