On this day, we gather to celebrate the life of a wonderful father, brother, son, and friend, Marquis Deshawn Brown, who passed away at the age of 49. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11 am at Greater Works Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 3 pm to 5 pm at Griffin MortuaryHe brought a unique light into this world, and his memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

He was best known for his great sense of humor, always knowing how to bring laughter and warmth into a room. Throughout his life, he paired that joyful spirit with a strong dedication, character, and profound love for his family. He spent years working as a warehouseman for McLane Company in Lubbock, Texas sharing with his colleagues before transitioning into a time of rest prior to his passing.

He was welcomed into eternity by his loving parents, Linda Brown and Gary Vester and his dear brother Johnny Barnes.

His legacy of love continues through his family. He leaves behind his partner Sparkle McKnight. He was a proud father to his nine children, four daughters Marquisha Brown, MaKarrae Brown, Shaunquies Brown, and Jazmyn Jackson, step daughter By McKinight, his sons Xavier Childress, Kevaundre Boyd, and JaKobe Brown. He is also survived and deeply missed by his beloved sisters Sandra Young, Tamesha Green, and Tosha Kindred, his brother Kim Carter, and a host of adored grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a community of extended family and lifelong friends.
