Marlan Jon Davis, “Bud”, 76, departed this life on Monday, May 1, 2023. Viewing will be held Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Griffin Mortuary from 4 to 6 p.m. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Marlan was born on November 24, 1946, to the parents of Bennie and Nellie Ruth Davis. He attended school in Crosbyton and Slaton, Texas. He went into the army in 1963 and served 7 years. He later met the love of his life; Joyce Britten and they married in 1987. Together they enjoyed hobbies such as fishing and hunting. Bud worked for GroAgri Seed Company for 12 years and landscapes of Lubbock for 32 years before retiring. He accepted Christ into his life and was deacon at Unity Baptist Church. Marlan is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie and Nellie Ruth Davis, his son, Akili Davis, sister, Willie Ruth Blue, brothers, Larry Joe Carter, Scottie McCoy, and Kenneth McCoy. Marlan leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Joyce Davis, his children, Tamara Britten, Charmaine Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Jr., Marlena Davis, Katrina Davis, and Tina Clark Davis, his sisters, Peggy Williams, Lexie Davis (Jackie), and Shirley Sanchez (Melvin), his brothers, Charles Frater (Rosalyn), Michael McCoy, James McCoy (Peaches), and Johnny McCoy, 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, life-long friends, Lynn Staggs and Celia, special sons, Brian Monroe and Ricky Monroe, a host of other relatives and friends.
