Marilyn Moss or “Big Merl” as many knew her left this world on July 16, 2025, at the ripe age of 59. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 1st, 2025, at 2 pm at Praise Center Ministries. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Thursday, July 31st, 2025 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Griffin Mortuary.
Though she is now absent from the body and present with the Lord, her infectious outgoing spirit will live on to all who knew her. From card games, to monopoly, even to the staff part of her battle with cancer over the past two years, to know her was to love her and you knew that she loved you back because she showed it. She was a “don’t play with her kids,” favorite auntie, ride or die friend, loyal sister, loving daughter, dancer, life of the party, and a whole vibe to anyone she made contact with.
This woman showed herself strong through many life obstacles in her short time on this earth and the family is at ease that she no longer has to fight but now has the peace that surpasses all understanding. She can likely now be found on the domino table in heaven with her brother James, brother-in-law Freddy, and father James Sr. with her Aunt Wanda up next and her grandmother “Lizzy B” and Aunt Doris making sure they don’t get too out of line. No more pain, no more suffering, no more tracheotomy, no more chemo, no more arguing with Baby Q, Marilyn is now in the best place she could ever be and I’m sure living her absolute best life! We miss you already but at the same time we are so glad your suffering days are over.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her father James Moss, Sr., her brother James Moss, Jr., grandmothers Elizabeth Williams maternal and Georgia Moss paternal.
Mariilyn leaves behind to cherish her memory, her mother Margaret Moss, daughters Marche’t Moss and Misty Moss, her son Marterio “Marty” Moss, her sisters Madelyn Moss and Mischelle Bryant, her grandchildren Melanizye Moss, Marquese Brightmon, Dedrick Traylor Jr., My’Ajah Moss, Keontrey Jackson, and Marquavis Turner, her great-grandchild Q’Vondre Wright “Baby Q”, her nieces Chassidy Hudson, Dimmietria Hudson, Michaela Collins, Jamorra Moss, and Meshaelon Bryant, Long-Term Paramour: Gregory Roddy, and a host of other relatives and friends.
