Margaret, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, was born on October 24, 1920, in the small town of Spring Creek, Texas, to Nara West and Jimmie Washington. Her remarkable journey of 105 years came to a peaceful close on August 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love.

Margaret's early years were spent in Spring Creek, where she attended the local public schools and developed a strong foundation of values and perseverance. These qualities guided her throughout her life, both personally and professionally. She began her career at Underwoods Barbecue, where she worked diligently for 20+ years. Later, she transitioned to serve in the Food Service Department at The Lubbock State School, where her dedication and warmth touched the lives of many.

Margaret was a devoted wife to Alvestor (Doc). Together, they shared three wonderful children: Joyce Robinson, Opal Robinson, and J D Robinson. Her family continued to grow, blessing her with 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, all of whom she adored deeply.

A pillar of her community, Margaret was an active member of the Carter Chapel C.M.E. Church. She served faithfully as a Stewardess, a member of the Missionary Society, and contributed in numerous other roles, always willing to lend a helping hand and share her infectious smile. Her commitment to her faith and community was unwavering, and she inspired others with her selflessness and grace.

Margaret had a profound love for the outdoors, spending countless hours tending to her garden. This passion for nature was matched only by her nurturing spirit and the joy she found in sharing her harvest with friends and neighbors. Her welcoming smile and kind words left an indelible mark on everyone she met, making them feel valued and loved.
