Margaret Allen, 83 of Lubbock, departed this life on Sunday, June 18, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Parkway Church of Christ. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. A viewing will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. On September 18, 1939, a daughter was born to the late David Vester Johnson, Sr. and Vivian Louise Ross. Margaret was the oldest of 19 children. She was born in Madisonville, Texas. Later the family moved to Lubbock, Texas. She attended public schools in Lubbock and Sudan, Texas. Margaret obeyed the gospel and became a Christian at an early age. She was a very kind, sweet, and most of all loving daughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, and friend to all those who encountered her, it was so “special” and in turn she was loved by many. She worked in dietary for 28 plus years until her retirement at the age of 65 from Covenant Medical Center. She was a very dedicated worker and loved her job immensely. She also had a love for collecting dolls and angels. She is preceded in death by her 6 sisters, Bertha Gibbs, Vertie Hardaway, Mary, Eva Lou, Betty Nell Johnson, and Patricia Thompson; 6 brothers, David, Jimmie, Willie B, Johnny Edward, Willie Edward, and Otha Dean Johnson; grandparents, Willie B and Eva Ross, Jim and Mary Johnson. Margaret leaves to celebrate her homecoming, her only sister, Louise Coleman of Lubbock, Texas; her brothers, James Johnson and Wesley Johnson both of Lubbock, Texas; Eleslie Joe Johnson and Eright Johnson both from Houston, Texas; and Benjamin Johnson of Waco, Texas; two aunts and uncles; special nieces and nephews, Gordon and Monica both of Lubbock, Texas; Demetria and June both of Mesquite, Texas; a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, great-great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
