Lucio Garza Jr., age 79, departed this life and entered into eternal rest on May 5, 2026. Visitations will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary Chapel. Private disposition will follow under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.

Lucio Garza Jr was born in Bryan, Texas and moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1952. He started to work at Baldridge Bakery in 1964, where he met his wife Natividad Luera and married on December 3 1965.

In 1967, his first son Abel was born. In 1969, Lucio went to work for McWhorter’s Tire and was one of the best tireman in Lubbock; he worked for McWhorter’s for 42 years and retired. His second son Jesse Joe was born in 1973. He went back to work and started to work for United Supermarkets for 10 years. Besides working Lucio loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Showing his grandson Zaiden how to ride his first bicycle. Lucio loved to go fishing, watching WWE wrestling, and The rifleman show and going to the West Texas speedway Racetrack on the weekends also the flea market. He also enjoyed gambling. He always said a prayer before he ate. His favorite NFL football team is The Dallas Cowboys. His favorite college football team is The Texas A&M Aggies and he liked all kinds of music. He loved metallica, Vicente Fernandez and oldies. He helped a lot of people out and he made a lot of new friends at Lubbock Hospitality where he lived for 4 years.

He is preceded in death by his father Lucio M. Garza Sr, his mother Maria Luisa Garza, his brothers Luis Garza and Jesse Garza, his sisters Mary Jane Perez, Mary Helen Days, and Sara G Carta, his granddaughter Cecily Garza.He is survived by, his wife:Natividad Garza, his sons Abel Gabriel Garza, Jesse Joe Garza Sr, his sisters Mary Louis Bray from Chicago Illinois, Manuela Schaefer from Kentucky, and Teresa Lang from Lubbock Texas, his brothers Esteban Garza from Irving Texas, and Jose Garza Dallas Texas, his grandchildren Mitchell Monse, Ashley Cortez, Yvette Cortez, Ramiro Esteban Garza, Jesse Joe Garza Jr, Zaiden Icyis Castillo, Aniah Marie Garza, Mariah Jennica Garza, and Zeriah Genesis Garza, his great grandchildren Uriah Garza, Sofia Garza, Chloe Garza, Major Garza, Azrielah Dawn Gorman, his nieces Candy Bustamante, Lula Pena, Molly Pena, Michelle Esquivel, Audrey Esquivel, Susan Garza, and Sharon Garza, his nephews Andrew Esquivel, Esteban Garza Jr, Richard Garza,Edward Lang, Justin Lang, Jimmie Lang Jr, Brian Bray, Mark Bray, Jimmy Don Garza, and Eddie Pena, and a host of other relatives and friends.
