Linda Kaye Johnson

Linda Kaye Johnson, 69, passed away on Thursday, May 1st, 2025. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, May 9th, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Lyons Chapel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Thursday, May 8th, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. Linda Kaye Johnson was born January 21st, 1956 in Lubbock, TX to Jessie and Helen Hood. Linda was the 6th of 13 children.

Linda’s generous spirit showed through her countless acts of kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She was the life of the party and the chain link in the family that kept everyone together.

Linda was a member of Temple Baptist for years and played several roles. She was a cake decorator at Walmart. She was an employee for Aramark for over 25 years, due to being self retired for the last 10 to 12 years, life gave her the luxury of enjoying bingo and her family full time.

Linda is preceded in death by her daughter Christi Taylor, her parents Helen and Jessie Hood, her brothers Louis Charles Hood and Horace Hood, and her sister Brenda Hood.

Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters Beatrice Johnson and Charlene Johnson, her six grandchildren Jeanette Scarborough, Chenier Gardner, Xazrian Taylor, Desmond Gardner, Zakyya Taylor, and Nevaeh Taylor, her great grandchildren Vernon Scarborough, Jr., Ja’Vion Scarborough, Zaedyn Taylor, Jaliyah Scarborough, Wynter Scarborough, Gracen Taylor, Kaiden Taylor, Ja’nayshia Scarborough, Ja’lani Scarborough, and Amora Gardner, her sisters Helen Hood (Jimmy McKinney), Bobbie Hood, Dorothy Hood, and Doris Lewis, her brothers Jessie Hood, Raymond Hood, Dewayne Young, Dery Hood, and Ernest Hood, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
