Levone Ray Madden, Jr, 49, of Lubbock, TX passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 7th, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at First Southern Baptist Church, Liberal, KS. Family viewing will be held Wednesday, October 4th, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. Family viewing will also be held Friday, October 6th, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, KS. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery, Liberal KS. under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. He was born on September 4, 1974, to Levone Maden and Pearline West in Liberal, KS. Levone received his education both in Liberal, KS [Liberal High School] and Lubbock, TX [Monterey High School]. During his formative years, he was a star athlete in football, basketball, wrestling, and participated in theatre. After graduating high school, he studied briefly at Garden City Community College before transferring to Pittsburg State University where he continued his football pursuits. Levone had a love for dogs and owned many growing up. You could always catch him adorned in his favorite 2 things: the color red and a Cadillac. He loved and cherished his family, especially his grandkids, Messiah and Aubrey. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Red River Commodities as a dedicated Lead Mill Operator and a Floor Lead Supervisor. He was also a member of Greater St. James Baptist Church.
He is survived by his father, Levone Maden Sr. (Patricia) of Lubbock, TX; mother, Pearline West of Tulsa, OK; 2 daughters, Shevonna Hayman of Riverdale, GA and Alexis Jones of Lenexa, KS; 5 sisters, Michelle Butler of Tulsa, OK, Trina Hicks of Houston, TX, Shetavya Hightower, Octavya Hightower, and Kay Shelby-Willard of Lubbock, TX; two grandchildren Aubrey Jones and Messiah Conley of Riverdale, GA; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Levone was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Brack and Pearlie Mae West; paternal grandparents Levi and Naomi Maden, brother Kent West; two maternal aunts Kathleen West and Ollie Bell West; one paternal uncle Joe Carl Maden.
