It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lawrence “Paw Paw” Brantley, born on August 25th, 2006, in Lubbock, Texas, at just 18 years old, Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 30th, 2025 at 1 pm at St. Luke Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Friday, August 29th, 2025 from 5 pm to 6 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Lawrence left this world far too soon, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty.
Lawrence attended Monterey High. “Paw Paw” was a very high-spirited person who loved to laugh and prank his siblings. His smile would light up any room he walked in.
Lawrence was extremely talented as a point guard in basketball but was just flat-out raw on the football field. Although he played the positions of running back and safety, he was good at every position.
Paw Paw was a very loving father and a very loyal friend. He had a deep love for his family but shared an extremely unique bond with his siblings, mother, and father.
If one were to speak with the adults in his life – such as coaches, teachers, and mentors, they would gladly say, “Lawrence was a very respectful young man.”
Paw Paw will be remembered for his fly swag, funny sense of humor, infectious smile, and loyalty. His love will continue to live on in the hearts of all of his family and friends.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his great grandmother Ms. Willie “Cookie” Brantley, great grandmother Cindy Kate Foster, his baby cousin Nicholas “Baby Nick” Hodge, his cousin Aaliyah Traylor, his auntie Mona Austin, and his uncle Marshone Sheppard.
Lawrence is survived by his father Lawrence Brantley (Ashati), his mother Myesha Thomas (Terry), grandmothers Amberlene Brantley and Detrease Thomas, his grandfathers Lawrence Ward “BB” and Donald Walker (Shanna), his daughter Leiani Adame, Laniya Brantley, Ran’asia Williams, Sa’niya Brantley, Bri’ele Davis, Zyrin Brantley, Kamri Brantley, Genesis Brantley, Farrian Taylor, LaTraviah Brantley, Lyric Hodge, Giovanni Brantley, and Ze’courian Brantley, his half brothers Dametrius Willis, Davante Stidam, and Byron Stidam, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and close friends.
