Lawrence B. Wabbington

Lawrence B. Washington, 67, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11 am at Resurrected Zoe Life Ministries. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Friday, August 14, 2026 from 3 pm to 5 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Lawrence was a great son, father, friend, and husband. Lawrence was born in Lubbock on March 4, 1959, to Grant Sr. and Farine Wabbington.

He worked at Lubbock Avalance Journal for over 20 years. Then at Golden Coral for 20 years and more. He graduated from Dunbar School. He was loved by everyone and will be missed by many, especially by his family.

He is preceded in death by hisbrother Elroy Kenrick, grandmother Rosie William, grandfather Rancy Kendrick, sister Bennie Sander, aunts Vera and Kitty, and his nephew Danny Horton.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, the love of his life Blanche Mitchell, his father Grant Wabbington Sr,his mother Farine Wabbington, his daughter Shameka Mitchell, his sister Vanzella Austin, brother-in-law Jimmy Wilson, his grandchildren Ke’Andre Mitchell and Corey Whitfield, his nieces Krista Mason, Laura Laner, Candice Nedd, and Sonia Manahan, his nephews Ercia Kenrick, Roy Brown, Rondey Horton, Rodrick Horton, Broderick Manahan, Donvan Manahan, and Kenrick Manahan, and a host of other relatives and friends.
