Latisha Danielle Benson

Latrisha Danielle Benson, 39, passed from this life into eternity on Saturday, August 31, 2024. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 at 12 noon at One Way Church of Christ. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 4pm to 6pm at Griffin Mortuary. Latisha Danielle (“Danie Gurl”) Benson was born November 5, 1984, in Lubbock, TX, to Jacqueline Paulhill and Gary Benson. She is the eldest sister of two brothers, Gary Shipman Jr. of Austin, TX and Demar Harris of New York. Danielle graduated from Eisenhower High School, where I will also be graduating. She was kind and forgiving, brave and headstrong, outgoing and fun-loving. She was spontaneous, always the life of the party, and lit up any room she entered with her laughter, presence, and beautiful smile. She did not play about her karaoke! As much as she loved having fun, the highlight of her life was spending time with her loved ones. 

 Latisha is preceded in death by her grandmothers Annie Marie Walker and Mavis Shipman, her grandfathers William Perry Paulhill and Huland Benson.

 She is survived by her 3 children, the elder daughter Kihana Wilson, and two sons, Alex McKnight Jr. and Trey’Veon Deshawn Thomas; her brother Gary and his daughter, her niece Sariah Lanae Shipman; her closest friend and sister from another mother, Deidra Southwell, and niece, Brianna Southwell and a host of other relatives and friends.
