Larry Dean Moore was born to Myrtle Lee Randle Garrett and Robert Moore. He was raised by his grandparents, James and Annie Moore, in Morton, Texas. From a young age, Larry was under the gentle guidance and boundless devotion of his grandmother, the late Annie B. Moore. Their bond was incredibly special. She raised him with the deep love, wisdom, and care of a second mother. The beautiful lessons, strength, and values she instilled in him stayed with him throughout his entire life, shaping the wonderful man he became.

Larry attended and graduated from Morton High School in 1983. He went on to receive a four-year scholarship to play football as a linebacker at West Texas A&M University. During his collegiate football career, he was awarded the first-ever Lineman National Player of the Week honor. His hard work and achievements on the football field were also highlighted in the Morton newspaper. Larry graduated from West Texas A&M around 1987.

He went on to begin a professional career in several fields, including physical therapy, serving as an HMR Director, prison counselor, maintenance supervisor, and other roles dedicated to serving and helping others. Larry retired in 2013/2014. In 1988, Larry married Kimley Britt Moore. They welcomed their only son, Zackery Moore, on March 9, 1990. They later divorced.

On April 8, 1995, Larry married Iva Moore, whom he met in Lubbock, Texas. Their marriage was a beautiful union of devotion, unconditional love, and commitment. For more than 31 years, they were not only husband and wife but also each other’s best friends.

Together, they blended two beautiful families, bringing five children into their family: Zackery, Dwayne, Nekeya, LaQuana, and Andrea. Their legacy continued through their 10 grandchildren—Kahlil, Daedrion, Chaela, Trey, Madison, Michael Jr., Morgan, Jacobi, Ny’lah, Dyanna, and two great-grandchildren, Daedrion Jr. and DaVani Lerai Morgan. Their family was also completed by their two beloved puppies, Jaxson and Jersey.

Larry’s faith walk began at an early age. He possessed a true servant’s heart and loved God, his family, and helping others. He had a special way of staying connected to the people he loved, often sending prayers and worship songs to his children and extended family members every morning.

His relationship with God became unwavering and was evident in the way he lived his life. Larry encouraged others through his words, his actions, and his example. He carried the strength of a protective lion while maintaining a meek and gentle spirit. His love, faith, wisdom, and willingness to help others were a reflection of the man he was.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Moore and Annie Moore; his parents, Myrtle and James; his brothers, David Moore and Gregory Moore.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Iva Moore; his sons Zackery Moore, Dwayne Morgan (Natasha); daughters, Nekeya, LaQuana (Michael), and Andrea; sisters, Robin Moore (Ronnie) and Roslyn Moore (Land); brother, Tony Moore; nieces, Leah and Jozlyn; and nephew, Michael Moore. He also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Larry’s life was a testament to faith, family, love, service, and perseverance.
