Mrs. Julia Ann Cameron-Mincey passed from this life to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 1pm at New Hope Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Friday, April 3, 2026 from 5pm to 7pm at Griffin Mortuary.
Julia was born in Lubbock, Texas on February 1, 1944, to Solomon Bunton Sr. and Ada Phillips-Bunton. She was raised and educated in Lubbock, Texas, where she attended Lubbock Public Schools and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1963. She later obtained her cosmetology license in 1966 and dedicated over 50 years of faithful service working at Hair by Diane until her retirement.
She united in holy matrimony to Mr. John T. Cameron in the early 1960s, and to this union two sons were born, Randy and Anthony Cameron.
Julia confessed Christ at an early age and became a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. A.L. Dunn. She remained a loyal and active member until her passing, serving faithfully in various church organizations, including the Usher Board.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Solomon Bunton Sr. and Ada Phillips-Bunton; her husband, Sonny Mincey; her brothers, Solomon, Bobby, and Danny Bunton; her sisters, Wanda Bunton-Jones and Mary Jo Howard; and her nieces, Leigthia C. Jones and Mary Howard.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her two sons, Randy Cameron and Anthony (Kathy) Cameron, two granddaughters Brandy Upshaw and Shawntay Cameron, her devoted niece Kista Jones, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
