Joyce Marie Dixon, 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, at 1 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. Joyce Marie Dixon was born May 14, 1946, to David Moody and Ardella White-Moody. She was born in Marlin, Texas. She attended Lubbock Public Schools. She accepted Christ at a young age and was a very devoted Christian.
Joyce met the Love of her Life, Terry Dixon, and to that union five children were born. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very nurturing and wise. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She took great pride in her home, she never wanted to part from it. She said, “It was her and dad’s piece of heaven.”
Joyce instilled pride and faith in her family. She was a great cook and everyone always felt welcome. She was a member at Faith Tabernacle, once her health declined, she started attending St. John Baptist Church with her family which she became a member.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Terry Dixon, Sr., her son Terry Dixon, Jr., and her daughter Lisa.
Joyce is survived by her three children Joyce “Renee” (Edward) Williams, Rita (Jimmy) Doss, and Charles Dixon, her brothers David Moody (Vivian), and Paul Moody (Sharline), her sister Lee Anna Clark, grandchildren James, Candice, Conery, Alicia, Jeremy, Donald, Jr., Tyson, Charlie, Latrice, Ashley, Shamyra, Brittany, Zava, Tyberius, and Aliah, special friend Charline Jackson, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
