On the beautiful day of March 13, 1958, Joseph Bryant Johnson was born to the parentage of the late Ruby and Joseph Johnson. He received Christ at an early age and joined Word of Truth Ministry in 2007, became an ordained deacon in the church in 2012. Joe was an obedient servant and truly loved the Lord. He would talk about how God was so good to any and every one he met, even in his last days. If you knew Joe, you know he was crying while doing so.

Joe graduated from Estacado High School in 1976, and later joined the Army in 1979, while in the Army he became a sharpshooter and received several medals and ribbons. Joe never met a stranger and was one of the most compassionate, forgiving, loving, kind, giving, and passive person we’ve known. Joe made many friendships while working at Frito-Lay, Llano, and Walmart. One of his greatest achievements was attending Texas Tech University majoring in Psychology and graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2021 at the tender age of 63.

In his last days, never had we seen him laugh so hard, smile so bright (even without teeth, lol), and love life and family so much.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Ruby and Joseph Johnson, brother Joseph D. Johnson, nephew Joshua Hargrove, great nieces Destiny Okornokwo and Ky’Lea Montgomery, maternal grandparents Erma and Isaw Green, paternal grandparents Odessa and Buck Henderson.

Joe leaves behind his son Bryant Johnson (Christy), his sisters Annie Washington (Charles), Denise Campbell (H.W.), Treva Johnson (Charles). Rosheta Jones (Tywanyne), Deeidra Hicks (Darryl), Zenovia Scott (Craig), Konana Johnson, Theresa Wyatt (Andre), Jennifer Hargrove, and Victoria James, his brothers Terence Johnson (Katie), Kelvin Johnson, Joseph J. Johnson (LaCandria), Jasper Johnson, Gary Don Hargrove (Nicole), Kalayne Hargrove (LaShanda), Jeremiah James, Waymore James, and Nathan James, his five grandchildren, 34 nieces, 63 nephews, one great-great niece, and a host of other relatives and friends.
