John Edward Hawkins

John Edward Hawkins, 71, of Lamesa passed away on Saturday, October 21. 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Dawson County Cemetery, Lamesa under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. John Edward Hawkins was born to Mary Hawkins Molett and Pete French, Jr. on July 22, 1952. He attended Lamesa Blackshear School. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing the drums. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada at an early age. He worked at the Tropicana Hotel in the hospitality department for many years until he retired. He was also a member of the Las Vegas Culinary Union. After retirement, he moved back to Lamesa, where he lived until his passing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Hawkins Molett and Pete French, Jr.; two sisters, Rachel Hawkins and Kathy King. He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Rosa Hawkins; two brothers, Morris Williams and Wayne French; only living aunt, Kathleen Parsons; a host of other relatives and friends.
