Mr. John Glen Brown, 64, departed his earthly home Sunday March 8, 2026, peacefully in his home in Mitchell, South Dakota. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, March 27, 2026 at 11 am at New Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. John Glen Brown was born February 20, 1962, in Shallowater Texas to the late William Henry Brown and Mrs. Rossie May Dupree.
John was a former resident of Lubbock, Texas. John was married to Ginny and through that union, a son was born in Lubbock Texas. He started a new life in Mitchell, South Dakota shortly after the union. John lived a life full of love, laughter, and family. John was a dedicated and God fearing man. He enjoyed spending all of his time with family, at the family reunion there was never a dull moment when Uncle do was there is love shared lots of laughter, and smacking good food as John would say. John worked at Denny's Restaurant in Lubbock Texas and at Dairy Queen in Mitchell South Dakota, in which he retired from. John attended Public Schools in Lubbock Texas, graduating from Lubbock High School. John gave his life to God at First Church Of God in Christ in Slaton Texas under the late Reverend P.B. Phenix. He continued his walk with God as a resident of Mitchell South Dakota under the Pastoral guidance of Pastor Torberson at the Grace Baptist Church in Mitchell South Dakota.John was a member for 12 years prior to going home. He enjoyed serving in the church.He donated every Tuesday to stapling booklets for the Ministry of the Gospel of John and The Book of Romans. He was passionate about spreading the message of Jesus Christ all over theworld, one staple at a time. John was a volunteer for vacation bible school, he was responsible for 100 kids each summer.John was a fan of old movies like up on 110th street, his favorite actor was Sidney Poitier. He would use the quote from the movie John Q, never goodbye always see you later.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. William Henry Brown and Mrs. Rossie MaeDupree, four sisters, Frankie Mae Brooks,Shirley Ann Boyd, Della Lee Jennings, and BarbaraJean Smith two brothers Elex Brown Sr, and Joe Lee Brown, two nieces, Vicki Brooks, and Latania Brooks.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his son Malachi Brown and Sabrina of Sioux Falls SouthDakota, Jaylan Brown of Mitchell South Dakota, one sister Elizabeth Brown of Lubbock, Texas, one brother Kenneth Brown and Lisa Brown of Houston Texas, a host of nieces, nephews, great, great great, great great great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
