Obituary

Listen to Obituary

On May 28, 2026, Joe Manuel Riojas, 65, of Plainview, Texas, slipped peacefully into the presence of the Lord. Visitations will be held Friday, June 19, 2026 from 10 am to 2 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Born on June 4, 1960, he was a beloved son to Teresa Gonzales and Margarito Riojas, and a devoted father to his two boys, Joey Margarito Riojas and Adam Hugh Riojas—the pride of his heart.

Joe lived a life rooted in faith, humility, and quiet strength. Texas was the backdrop of his days, but Heaven was always the anchor of his soul. He loved fishing, serving the Lord, and—true to his humor—watching the Cowboys lose. But above all, he loved walking out the calling God placed on his life. His faith wasn't loud; it was steady, lived out in the way he carried himself, the way he loved, and the way he taught his children and grandchildren to put God first and never bow to the ways of this world. He was a man who didn’t need attention to make an impact. He kept to himself, yet those who truly knew him were blessed with a lifelong friend.

Joe is preceded in death by his sister Rosa Riojas, his brothers Agapito Riojas, Cristobal Riojas, Antonio Riojas, and Lupe Riojas.

Joe leaves behind his sons Joey Margarito Riojas and Adam Hugh Riojas, his sisters Janie Riojas and Consuelo Riojas, his brothers Juan Riojas and Mike Riojas, his grand children Hailey Nicole Riojas, Joey Margarito Riojas Jr., Zarin Faith Riojas, Malorie Tagle, Emmene Bryanne Thompson, and Gauge Lopez, his great-grandchild Ashton White, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
