Jerry Leroy Wright, 93, died at home on Saturday, February 22, 2025 in Lubbock, TX. Celebration of life Service will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Griffin Mortuary Chapel. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Jerry Leroy Wright was born on November 17, 1931, at home in Moscow, KS. Jerry had a long and fascinating life. After graduating from high school, he got a teaching degree and taught for a short time.
That led to his career in the military. Initially starting off in the Air Force, Jerry spent the majority of his military career in the Army, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 in Military Intelligence before retiring. It was while serving overseas in Germany that he met Ingrid. He was fluent in German and French. They married and had 3 sons. After retiring, Jerry furthered his education, achieving a Masters Degree in Library Science. He started a new career with the US Postal until he retired again. Upon Ingrid’s death in 2005, fate would have it that he would return to Germany and decide to marry his wife, Regine, who was Ingrid’s friend. He gained two new children, Marcus and Regine and a granddaughter Mia. Jerry and Regine settled in Lubbock, TX. He enjoyed NASCAR, bowling, and working in his yard.
Jerry is preceded in death by his brother James Wright, his sisters Mary Bell Thompson, Faye Pierce, Nell Fox, and Nina Smith, his first wife Ingrid Wright, whom passed away in 2005.
Jerry is survived by his wife Regine Wright, father of 4 sons James “Jim” Wright of Oak Harbor, WA, John Wright of Lubbock, TX, Jay Wright of
Diamond Springs, CA, and Erik Wright of Dumas, TX, grandfather to Mike, Yolanda, Nikki, and David, great-grandfather to Elizabeth, Truly, Sadie, Miles, and Tyla, and a host of other relatives and friends.
