Jerry Glen Pierce, Sr., 68, passed away on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Jerry Glen Pierce Sr., also known as JP, was born on October 27, 1956, in Longview, Texas. He was the fourth child of Aretha Frison and P.J. Pierce. Jerry began his education in Texas when he was seven years old.

In 1964, his family relocated to Watts, California. Growing up in Los Angeles, Jerry was known for being very protective of his family and friends. He had the heart of a lion, and everyone recognized his caring nature. He attended 102nd Street Elementary School for the first and second grades, then moved to 92nd Street School for third and fourth grades, and returned to 102nd Street School to complete his elementary education. Jerry was always a hustler. When he was about thirteen or fourteen, he and Enoch started a car wash and auto detailing business during the summers. Jerry went on to attend Markham Junior High School. He completed high school at Jordan High School, where he took up auto mechanics and stage productions. He had a love for old school cars and music. Jerry adopted two brothers while in high school, Howard Harvey and Randy Drinkard. The three of them had their own little group and refused to let anyone join them except for one lucky young man. Jerry's big, little brother Enoch. Jerry and Enoch were like twins; if you saw one, the other one was not far behind. Enoch learned from his big brother, from his stylish ways of dressing, his smooth, soft-spoken voice, and down to the coolest walk ever. He had swag. Jerry taught Enoch how to fight. He would even let him win until Noch started pinning him down because he was always bigger than JP. He would have to use the I am not playing with you voice to get him up off of him. Of course, Noch didn't know what was going to happen, and he didn't want to find out, so he let him up. Jerry and his friends enjoyed riding Schwinn bikes and beach cruisers during the summer. JP had several nicknames: Hipcat, Wessel, and Cookie. Hipcat was always my favorite because he was so cool. It is also what my cousin Alberta Brooks Menton called him. My cousin Valarie started calling him Cousin when we moved to Texas.

Jerry started working at the tender age of fifteen as a stocker at a liquor store. After high school, Jerry continued to work in liquor stores. He worked at liquor stores from Watts to Willowbrook, becoming a manager at two of those stores.

Around 1978, Jerry started dating Debra Lynn Hendrix; they were together for eight years. From that relationship, they had two beautiful daughters, Mecha Shanae Pierce of San Pedro, CA, and Daisha TaShun Pierce of Los Angeles, CA.

In 1986, Jerry started dating Cynthia Thomas Pierce, whom he married in 1988. From that marriage, they had a handsome son, Jerry Glen Pierce Jr of Lubbock, TX, and a beautiful daughter, LaJeriEricka G. Pierce of Lubbock, Texas. Jerry and Cynthia just had their 37th wedding anniversary. Jerry and his wife moved to Lubbock, TX, in 1995, where he started working for Citibus. He left Citibus at the end of 2002 to pursue his career as an over-the-road truck driver. He obtained his CDL on July 03, 2003, and drove for several trucking companies until he retired in 2021.

Jerry's favorite pastimes were working on cars while listening to one of his favorite singers, Smokey Robinson, along with the Temptations and the Dramatics.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Aretha Frison; three sisters, Shirley Pierce, Delores Pierce, and Rhonda Frison; three brothers, Pierre Bear Frison, Victor Frison, and Howard Harvy. His Grandparents, Ardis & Ida Mae Moch.

He leaves to cherish his memories with his devoted wife, Cynthia Thomas Pierce; four children: Mecha of San Pedro, Daisha Pierce of Los Angeles, LaJeriEricka Pierce, and Jerry Pierce Jr. (RadDasha Kennedy) of Lubbock, TX. Six grandchildren: Brooklynn E. Pierce, Chase D. Pierce, Emori D. Isaac, Nehemial J. Isaac, MaKenzie Glass, and Jerry G. Pierce III. Five brothers: Enoch Frison III (Stephaine Frison) of Compton, CA, Gerald DeWayne Frison (Bonnie Frison) of Palmdale, CA, Marcus Tynes (Renasha Tynes) of Los Angeles, CA, Lonnie Ray Pierce of Los Angeles, CA., and Randy Drinkard of Los Angeles, CA. And a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, cousins, nieces, and Friends.
