Jashala Johnson

Jashala Johnson, 18, passed away on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, at 1 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held Friday, May 2nd, 2025, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Jashala Johnson was born on November 16th, 2006, to Javance Johnson and Katasha Phillips Johnson. Jashala went to Harmony Science Academy, Bozeman, Alderson, Dunbar, and Estacado. She was very outgoing and she loved to dance. She was on the dance team until she couldn’t anymore after that she started to follow in her big cousins footsteps in doing eyelashes, “Awakening Beaties” kept a part time job cause she loved to spend money and turn up the best Aunty the kids could ask for in her words. “I’m the Rich Aunty, cause I’m not having no kids.” She was the model of her mother, FaceBook boutique Kater to you, and she “did it on Em” she was definitely her mother’s mini me, “Scorpio Twins”.

Jashala was graduating from Estacado High School in May of 2025 and was very excited about graduation. She could walk in a room and brighten it up. She was the life of the party! Everything was always funny to her, she laughed about everything.

Jashala is preceded in death by her grandpa Gregory Childress, great grandma Carolcill Naylor, great grandma Istalevia Hughes, great grandpa R. L. Phillips, uncles Edward Johnson and Steve Johnson.

Jashala leaves behind to cherish her memory, her father Javance Johnson, her mother Katasha Phillips Johnson, her grandparents Cynthia Phillips, Carol Johnson, and Edward Johnson, her sisters Jakequisha Johnson and Sapphire Wall, sister-in-love Erkayjah Hood, best friends ZaKayla Johnson and Jazlynn Ruiz, her brothers Javance Johnson, Jr., Jaquan Johnson, and Jaquavius Johnson, her aunts Cora Johnson (Derrell), Katrenia Phillips Green (Obrien), Sabrina Johnson, Lequitha Johnson, Tina Johnson, Natasha Johnson, Antoinette Johnson, Mary Pinkard, and Mattie Johnson, her uncles Larry Weaker, Dexter Johnson, Jerome Johnson, and Terry Johnson, her nieces D’Vayiah Johnson, D’Nyiah Johnson, D’zyria Johnson, Ja’kyriana Johnson, and Ja’Kaili Johnson, her nephews Davierre Johnson, Jhy’mhr Johnson, and Jaquan Johnson, Jr, and a host of other relatives and friends.
