James Lee Guess

James Lee Guess, "Suga Bear", 68 of Lubbock, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Griffin Mortuary Chapel. Private Disposition will follow under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. On Wednesday, March 1, 2023, our beloved father, son, brother, and uncle departed from this life. James Lee Guess, of Alvin and Ella Mae Guess, was born on June 23, 1954, in Amherst, TX. James received his education in the Lubbock Independent School District. He enjoyed drawing and art. He likes to dress up and get sharp. He also loved to cook. James is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ray Guess; and his sister, Delois Guess. James leaves to cherish is memory; his daughter, LaTricia Guess of Lubbock, TX; his grandchildren, BraShondrick Dial and Antwon Martin, Jr. both of Lubbock, TX; his three sisters, Rosie Guess Jefferson of Littlefield, TX; Joyce Guess Stewart of Anton, TX; and Bertha Barnes of Muskogee, OK; his brother, Albert Guess of Lubbock, TX; six nieces, Wynicka Garnett of Dallas, TX; Cherie Williams of Lubbock, TX; Jackie Guess, Andrea Guess, and Stacy Guess all of Tula, Oklahoma; and Angela Post-Maxwell of Muskogee, Oklahoma; nine nephews, Benny Craddock, Jr. of Plato, Missouri; Anthony Craddock of Lubbock, TX; Dorsett Jefferson of Littlefield, TX; James Steward of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Andre Steward of Anton, TX; Dee Guess of Keller, TX; Antwone Gist, Sr., Jerry Guess, Tracy Guess, Sr. all of Muskogee, Oklahoma; a host of other relatives and friends.
