James Edward Campbell, 83, passed away on August 31, 2026. A Celebration of Life Service will be held. Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 12 noon at Floydada County Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. James was born September 29, 1943, in Floyd County, Texas to Gurtie White and Lee Andrew Campbell. James was married to his ex-wife Mary N. (Crosby) Campbell for over 50 years and through that union seven children was born. James lived the majority of his life in Lubbock, Texas. James graduated from High School and was very smart in math, and he even taught math at times as a substitute in his former wife class. James was self-employed as a Carpenter for many years and engaged in other activities that kept him quite resourceful. One of his hobbies was playing Bingo.

James was a active member at Greater St. James Baptist Church at 117 N. Mulberry Ave. in Lubbock, Texas 79403 for many years. As a member James was loved and loved all his fellow members. In fact, he would give you his last because that is the kind of spirit and heart my Dad had. James will be missed by his family, friends, and all that has and will come to love and be a part of his life.

James was preceded in death by his former wife Mary N (Crosby) Campbell, and two sons James L. Campbell and Charles A. Campbell, his parents Gurtie (White) Campbell and Lee Andrew Campbell, three brothers, Lee Andrew Campbell Jr., Raymond Campbell, and John Campbell, and four sisters, Velma Coleman, Juanita Price, Mildred Black, and Bobbie Minnitt.

James leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter Patria N. (Campbell) Osuoha, four sons, Glenn Campbell, Bruce Campbell, Sammye Campbell and Thomas Campbell, his siblings Carrie Davis, Stella Samuels/Jones, Clarrisa Wells, his grandchildren are Jermall Campbell, Kiya Amadi, Amuche Onyirimba, Melvin Baker, Bruce Campbell Jr., Brice Campbell, Mary Campbell, Billy Budd, great-grandchildren, Kristiana Blythe, Alyja Campbell, Jermall Campbell Jr., Jeremiah Campbell, Heaven Campbell, Kalianna Campbell and Jermarion Campbell, Sereniti RoseMary Campbell, Josiah Amadi-Hearn, Journi Oresanya, and Amariachi Onyirimba. Great great-grandchild, Ja’Kylynn Campbell, Truth Seymour and Cartier Amadi-Hearn and a host of relatives, friends and his Greater St. James Baptist Church family.

James has other kids, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren, and maybe great-great grandchildren outside of his marriage to Mary N. (Crosby) Campbell.
