James Anthony Bozeman "Bunkin"

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. James Bozeman at the age of 48. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, September 28, 2026 at 1pm at Lyons Chapel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 27, 2026 from 2pm to 4pm at Griffin Mortuary.James was born in Lubbock, Texas on February 18, 1978, to James Henry and Rosemary Brown. James graduated from Estacado High School in 1997 and went on to pursue a career as a cook at Applebees restaurant for many years. James later joined an incredible team at Johnson Control in Lubbock, where many of his co-workers cherished him and his strong work ethics. He was employed at Johnson Control until his health began to fail.

When James was not working, he cherished spending time with his daughter, hanging out by the lake fishing with his nephews, and grilling with his older brother. He had a heart of gold and loved those around him especially his mother and father, and his three siblings.

James was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his cousin Willie Brown Jr., and his nephew Erik Jones.

He is survived by his parents James and Rosemary, his daughter Chyna (Jonathan), his sisters Teresa, and Stephanie (Eric), his brother Johnny “Jim Bean”, his bonus brothers Mike Coleman, and Will Brown, all of Lubbock, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
