Ima Jean Martindale, 68, departed this life on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 2nd, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Difference Makers Fellowship. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Ima Jean Calloway also known as "Mae" was born In Lamesa Texas to Mr. Clarence and Mrs. Corine Calloway on June 20, 1955. She attended Lamesa High School. Mae married Rev. Jerry Martindale on August 28, 1975. To this union four children were born: C.L Timothy Martindale of Lubbock Tx, Kendrick Martindale of Odessa Tx, Joseph Martindale of Lubbock, and Charity Reese of Lubbock Tx. Ima Jean was a devoted mother and loved all her family dearly. Ima Jean was hard-working, adventurous, ambitious, outgoing and a strong woman. Ima Jean enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and singing to them. Ima Jean made sure that the Lord’s love shined through her words and always advised that you find a way to spend time with him. Everyone that knew Ima Jean knew she loved Bingo. Ima Jean had a big heart and loved caring for others, as she worked as a C.N.A for over 10 years and retired with Direct Health Care.
Ima Jean was preceded in death by her Father Clarence & Mother Corine Calloway; three brothers, Author Lee Calloway and Clarence Jr Calloway both of Lamesa TX; and Willie Calloway of Lubbock, two sisters: Sally Calloway and Katherine Calloway both of Lamesa TX.
Ima Jean is survived by her husband, Rev. Jerry Martindale and her four children, two brothers: Johnny Calloway of Lubbock TX and Robert Calloway of Lamesa TX, her two sisters: Lorine Scott of Casa Grande, Arizona, and Gwendolyn Dane of Lamesa TX; aunts and uncles, over 20 grandchildren and over 30 great-grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ima Jean Martindale “Mae” will truly be missed.
