Horace Johnson, Jr.

Horace Johnson Jr., 77, went from labor to rest on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary Chapel. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Horace was born in Littlefield, Texas on November 10, 1946, to Horace Johnson, Sr. and Alice Mae Haskin (Dotson). He attended Ella Iles Elementary School, graduated from Dunbar Junior-Senior High School, in Lubbock, Texas where he ran track and played on the Jr. Varsity Football team and went on to further his education at Paul Quinn College.
He was a faithful member of the Church of the Nations in Lubbock, Texas, until he became ill and could not attend regularly. He enjoyed prayer and worship.
 
He was preceded in death by his mother Alice Mae Haskin (Dotson), his brother Alvin Ray Thompson and sisters Myrtle Mae Ward, and Betty Jewel Smith.

Horace is survived by his sons Marcus Williams (Marquita) of Melbourne, FL, James Williams of Dallas, Texas, Bridgette Mask of Houston, Texas, Jaydn Turner of Lubbock, Texas, and his sister Ruth Dotson of Lubbock, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
