Henry Earl Spence, 77, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Celebration of life Service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be ehdl Friday, March 1, 2024, at Griffin Mortuary from 4 p.m. to 6 p. m. Henry Earl Spence was born to Dave Spence, Sr., and Hazel Wilson-Spence on August 8, 1946, in Limestone, County, TX. Henry was one of 12 children born to Mrs. Hazel. He attended Floydada Public School. He was honorable discharged from the United States Navy. He was a professional welder. Henry had two sons.

Henry accepted Christ at an early age at Hopewell Baptist Church in Petersburg, Texas. He also was a member at First Progressive Baptist Church under both Pastor Homer Avery and Bishop D. Avery.

Henry is preceded in death by his parents Dave Spence, Sr., and Hazel Thompson, his siblings L.V. Thompson, Jr., LoVis Jean Thompson, Nellie Mae Spence, Estelle Spence, Billy Ray Spence, George Willie Thompson, and Cleo.

Henry leaves to cherish his memory; his sons Greg Ross (Staci) and Steven Spence, his brothers Tommy (Martha), Dave, Sr. (Grace), and Robert, Sr. (Geraldine), one sister Sandra (Gerald)his grandchildren Bryndyn Spence, Destiny Spence, Braelyn Spence, Avery Ross, and Jy’Kyri Spence, a host of niece, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
