Gerald Keith Wilborn "Gee"

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Keith Wilborn, lovingly known as “Gee.” He entered the presence of our Lord and Savior on July 12, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 49. A viewing will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Private Disposition will follow under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.

Gerald was born on August 16, 1976, in Slaton, Tx, to Elaine Lawrence and the late Roscoe Boyd.

Gee was an amazing father, son, brother, uncle and friend; his kind heart and spirit touched everyone who knew him. He found genuine joy in helping others, whether he was working on a car, mowing a lawn, hauling trash, or lending a helping hand to anyone in need. His selflessness knew no limits.

Gee had a contagious sense of humor that could brighten anyone’s day. He loved to laugh and always made it a good time with his crazy sense of humor.

Above all else Gerald loved his children. He cherished every moment spent with them and made it his mission to create lasting memories. Whether he was throwing the ball with them, taking them to the water park, singing and dancing their favorite songs, having meaningful conversations, taking them to do lawns with him or just simply spending quality time together. He was very involved with all of the school activities, he would walk them to two schools in two different directions, he welcomed them home with a hot meal and ensured their schoolwork was always completed. He made it a point to make each day meaningful with them. He also loved all children; many kids knew him as “Uncle Gee.’’

Gerald loved to cook for those he loved, and everyone was always ready to show up when he was in the kitchen, they knew it was going to be a great meal. True to his selfless nature, he would never sit down to eat until he had made sure everyone had enough, even if it meant going without himself.

One of Gee’s greatest joys was spending time with his mother. He found peace in their daily conversations, taking her to and from work and stopping for her favorite cappuccino along the way.

His bond with his siblings was one built on unconditional love. It was always a party when they were together; the room would be filled with lots of playing around and uncontrollable laughter. They could be arguing and ready to fight one minute and rolling on the floor laughing the next. He was fiercely protective of his sister; he was always there to help her however he could. She was his keeper as he was hers.

Gee was the person everyone could count on. He was the go-to guy who never hesitated to show up with a helping hand, a listening ear or words of encouragement. His kindness, silliness, compassion and willingness to put others before himself will remain a legacy.

Gerald is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his fathers Roscoe Boyd and Charles Watkins, Uncle Willie Mims, Aunt Joann Matkins, Cousin Keith Wilborn, his son’s mother, Asha Nichols and his lifelong friends Jermaine Holmon and Money Belcher.

Those left to cherish Gerald’s memory include his mother, Elaine Lawrence of Slaton; stepfather Roy Lawrence, his children Gerald Keith Wilborn Jr, Zane Amir Wilborn, Terrell Scott, Xander Hutchinson, Reno Duran; his sisters, Lachelle Watkins, Tynette Patterson, Denesha Luke, Shanika Luke, Brooklyn Hooker, Michelle Moore, Shea Boyd, Lesha Boyd, Shaunte Glass. His brothers include John Johnson (Christina) of Odessa, Tommie Johnson (Edna) of Odessa, Lester Morrison, Rodrick Luke, Roscoe Boyd III, and Shelton Conwright. His Aunt Sandra and Tina Mims, Uncle Terry Mims, and many cousins and friends: nieces and nephews, Jabri, Jada, Janae, Tiara, Jared, Jackson, Charles, Bryce, Zion, Ty’Shawn, Ky’Shawn, De’Shawn, Daeshaun. His friend Emma and his very, very special friend, his superwoman as he called her, Sheryl Hutchinson.

Although our hearts are broken by the loss of such a beautiful soul, we find comfort in the memories and the love that he gave us. If Gee were here today, he would say “stop that cryin.’’ He found God and he would remind us to trust in God and know that God is with us through this difficult time. To know Gee was to love him and part of him will live on in all of us.
