Gerald Anthony Johnson II, 38, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on March 21, 2026. Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 1 pm at Agape Temple COGIC. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.  Born on July 4, 1987, Gerald lived a life marked by strength, generosity, and a spirit that drew people in from the very first moment, they met him.

He was known for his undeniable charisma, his laughter, and the way he could light up any room. Gerald never met a stranger, only people he hadn’t connected with yet. He loved deeply and lived fully, with a heart rooted in faith, family, and service to others.

Above all, Gerald was a devoted father, son, grandson, great-grandson, brother, and uncle. His greatest joy was found in loving his daughter, pouring into his family, and being present for those he cared about. He found peace and purpose in ministering to others, fitness, raising his horses and dogs, and tending to his land, things that reflected both his heart and his calling.

Gerald is survived by his beloved daughter, G’Leyah Johnson, and her mother, Crystal (Colbie); his loving parents, Alleethea Porter (Carlin) and Gerald Johnson (Crystal); his devoted sisters, Jasmine Johnson, Brittany Graham, Briana Johnson, Destiny Johnson, and Alexis Johnson; his cherished grandparents, Johnny and Ernestine Bell, and Jim and Christine Johnson; his brother-in-law Ricky Graham; his treasured great-grandmother, Nanny Lillie; his dear aunt, Sheila, and his uncle, Fredrick Johnson; his beloved nieces, Aniya and Bria Johnson; his treasured nephews, Caiden Johnson, king, Kade and Tristian Graham; his special friend, Tessa Chance; a host of loving cousins; and many close friends who became family.

Though our hearts are heavy and his loss feels unimaginable, we take comfort in knowing that Gerald’s life was one of purpose and impact. The love he gave, the faith he carried, and the lives he touched will continue to live on in all of us. He was taken far too soon, but his legacy of love will remain forever.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

— 2 Timothy 4:7–8
