Geneva Ellis Ford

Geneva "Rosie Lee" Ford, 85, departed this life on Sunday, August 13th, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 18th, 2023 at 10 .m. at Ford Memorial COGIC. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Viewing will be held Thursday, August 17th, 2023, at Griffin Mortuary from 3 to 6 p.m. Geneva “Rosie Lee” Ford was born on September 15th, 1937, in Kanawha, TX to Rosie B. Hearne and Sherwood Ellis.
She married Herman Lee Ford on June 19th, 1954, in Clovis, NM. They were married for 64 years until he preceded her in death in 2020. She was a member of Anton C.O.G.I.C. for 21 years and Greater Faith Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Brownfield, TX for 15 years under the leadership of her brother, Rev. Jerry Ellis, Sr., where she served in several positions of the church including Mother of the Church until her passing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lee Ford; daughter, Shirley Mae; her parents, Rosie Hearne and Sherwood Ellis; her sister, Rosie Ardenia and William Aimes; her brothers, Wilford “Boots” and Oneta; Rev. Jimmy and Darla Faye Ellwood; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Lee and Webb Tinner; daughter-in-law, Sally, Roxie, Bobbie, and Janie.
She is survived by her sons; Lee (Kim), George, Robert (Debra), Donnie, and David (Laura); her daughters, Helen, Gloria, Hattie, Patricia, Dorothy Chatman, and Retha Niblett; her brothers, Rev. Jerry Ellis, Sr. (Linda) and Terry Ellis; sister-in-law, Ester Ellis; son-in-law, Alvin Chatman; 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
