Gay Nell Anderson, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026, in Killeen, Texas, after a brief illness. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Griffin Mortuary, Lubbock, Texas. Officiating will be Pastor S.R. Anderson. Interment will follow at Lubbock Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.

Gay Nell Anderson was born on February 26, 1935, in Melvin, Texas, to the union of Edna Thomas Gonzales and Mack Johnson. She was raised in West, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Ervin L. Anderson. The two shared 73 years of marriage and built a life centered on love, family, and faith.

To this union, six children were born: Ervin Anderson Jr., Peggy Anderson, Linda Anderson (Morris), Jeffrey Anderson (Kathyl), Deborah Anderson- Lindz, and Gregory Anderson. Together, they raised their family in Lubbock, Texas, where Gay Nell lived the majority of her life.

Gay Nell was a devoted homemaker who prioritized her family above all else. She was a woman of strong Christian faith, having accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. Her life was a reflection of kindness, compassion, and a willingness to help anyone in need.

She found joy in interior decorating, gardening, cooking, music, and crossword puzzles. Her greatest pride and joy was her family, and she poured her love into every generation.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children; her grandchildren: Charles McGee, Trina Anderson, Jacqueline Anderson, Leslie Anderson, Eric Anderson, Iris Anderson, Mark Morris, Michael Anderson, Cory Anderson, and Jameel Anderson; along with 12 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Andrea Louise Gonzales.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ervin L. Anderson; her children, Ervin Anderson Jr. and Deborah Anderson-Lindz; her grandchildren, Jacqueline Anderson and Mark Morris; and her parents, Edna Thomas Gonzales and Mack Johnson.

Gay Nell Anderson will be remembered for her loving spirit, her strength, and her unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured and the many lives she touched.
