Evon Pearson, 69, departed this life on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, April 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Church of the Nations Church. Interment will be held Monday, April 10, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Viewing will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. She was born on June 3rd, 1953, in Muleshoe, Texas to Don A. and Jester Pearson. Evon attended Whiteface Public Schools. And later moved to Lubbock where she graduated from Dunbar High School. Upon graduation she enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for four years. After her return to Lubbock, she continued her education. She received her bachelor’s degree in child development from South Plains College. She worked for several day care centers and St. John Newmans, Greenfair, and Milam Head Start. She was also a bus assistant at Durham School Service until she retired. Evon was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. Evon is preceded in death by her parents, Don Pearson and Jester Pearson; three sisters, Josephine Kyles, Rena Pearson and Helen Jones; two brothers, Leo Pearson and Johnny Pearson. Evon leaves to mourn her son, Tremayne Pearson (Prencess); her daughter, Wysteria Pearson; her brother, Glen Pearson; 8 grandchildren, Shiniya Pearson, Dealan Reed, Keonda Pearson, Travante Robles, Erick Warren, Tiyanna Thompson, Brianna Thompson, Brittany Thompson; 5 great-grandchildren, Greg Thompson, Trinity Thompson, Korbin Centail, Julian Ivy Reed, and Dailen Reed longtime friend, Gloria Lopez; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
