Ellwood Edward Ellis, 54, passed away on Friday, May 2nd, 2025. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at 11 am at Agape Temple C.O.G.I.C. Private Disposition will follow under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Ellwood Edward Ellis was born on July 14th, 1970, to the parents of Ellwood and Ester Ellis in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Estacado High School.
Ellwood was one of the best tenors on this side of Texas and could play the tambourine like no other. He started singing in the Sunshine Band, Purity Class, TNW State Choir and various other choirs. Now he’s singing in the “Heavenly Choir.”
Ellwood enjoyed cooking, crafting, bawling, and BINGO, bingo he would win, win, win. One of his meals he would cook was potato casserole and he would make it for his nieces. Ellwood had a serving heart of helping others, and loved volunteering at the Dream Center of Lubbock. He was a ride or die Dallas Cowboy Fan.
Ellwood was a devoted son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend.
Ellwood is preceded in death by his dad Ellwood Ellis, his brother Jerome Ellis, his grandmother Lee Ester Lewis “Mama Lewis”, his grandparents Sherwood Ellis and Rosie B. Hearne Ellis.
Ellwood leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother Ester Ray Ellis, grandparent Deacon George Lewis, his sisters Shirlene Ellis -Ransom (Earl), of Alvarado, TX, and Moesha Ellis of Lubbock, TX, his nieces Darnesha Ellis, Te’Amber Ellis, Dominique Ellis, and Destiny Ellis, his great niece Serenity Ellis, bonus niece Jamekia Walker, his nephews DeShan Bell-Morrison “Bubba”, his great nephew Jeremiah Ellis, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
