Elder Bobby R. Lawson, 71, passed away on Thursday, May 1st, 2025. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Broadway Church of Christ. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held Friday, May 16th, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. Elder Bobby Lawson was born on August 22nd, 1953, to the parents of Billy F. and Frankie Lawson. He was the third born of eleven children. He attended Lorenzo Public Schools where he was a graduate of the class of 1973.

Elder Lawson grew up in Lorenzo, TX and came to Christ at an early age attending Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Lorenzo. He moved to Lubbock in 1974. He was the Pastor of 4 churches, Amherest, Texas New Hope Baptist Church for 4 years, Holy Temple C.O.G.I.C., Lubbock, TX, Bonner Chapel Olton, TX, and Pastor for Scotts Temple Lubbock, TX for 18 years.

Elder Lawson married Rosie Walker on June 19th, 1974 and had 50 years of marriage. He retired from the City of Lubbock after working for 18 years, before them was Hall’s Factory and Farmer’s Corp Gin.

Elder Lawson never knew a stranger, always telling the goodness of God. He could always be found Bar B queing his famous for turkey legs, ribs, brisket, he called it “no teeth” Bar b que. Love his friends and family especially his best friend James Craig!. Loved his kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his wife unconditionally. Many brothers in Christ were always praying together daily.

Elder Lawson is preceded in death by his parents Billy E. and Frankie Lawson, his brothers Darrel Lawson, King John Lawson, and Ronnie Lawson, his sisters Betty Lou Anderson and Wanda Kaye Anderson.

Elder Lawson leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife Rosie M. Lawson, his daughter Tonya Garner, his son Bobby Lawson, Jr. (Delores), his sister Susie Lee Lawson (Dale), Evelyn McBride both of Lubbock, TX, his brothers Billy Lawson (Annie), Tommy Lawson both of Lubbock, TX, and Richard Lawson of Amarillo, TX, his 10 grandchildrens, his 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
